This exceptional Memorial Genealogy Jug by Greg Patton transforms the traditional Southern stoneware jug into a deeply personal work of ceramic storytelling. Inspired by the historic pottery traditions of the American South, Patton combines functional vessel forms with family history, creating an heirloom-quality piece that preserves memory through clay.

The double-handled jug is decorated with hand-incised names, birth dates, and death dates, documenting generations of one family. At its center, a recessed ceramic frame houses a vintage family portrait, becoming the emotional focal point of the work. Surrounding the photograph are slip-trailed birds, botanical motifs, monograms, and decorative flourishes, all executed in Patton's distinctive style. It should be noted the names are fictional. Greg made up this family.

Finished in a warm earth-toned glaze that recalls historic Southern stoneware, the jug bridges contemporary folk pottery with the long tradition of commemorative vessels made throughout the South.
