I started turning pottery in 2006 in Lenoir, NC in a small studio along side my instructor with the thought of functional ware, such as bowls, cups and pitchers. I quickly learned about the Catawba Valley pottery tradition. My interest was immediately intrigued by the hand dug clay, natural alkaline glazes and the ground hog kiln firing process.
