Mister 8

Mister 8 is a South Carolina self-taught artist whose work draws inspiration from Southern culture, roadside Americana, vintage advertising, and everyday objects that have become part of the region’s visual identity. Working on reclaimed wood, metal, canvas, and found surfaces, he creates bold paintings characterized by expressive linework, vibrant color, and a distinctly personal style.

He is a combat veteran of the Air Force and Army who saw action in Operation Desert Storm, Enduring Freedom (Afghanistan) and Iraqi Freedom. He is the recipient of two Bronze Star Metals. Mister 8 is a fierce advocate for veteran’s rights. He has immersed himself in art creation as therapy, expression and communication. 

Rooted in the visual culture of the American South, his paintings are collected for their authenticity, humor, and strong sense of place.
