A relaxed, almost knowing expression distinguishes this face jug by South Carolina potter Joel Patton. Heavy-lidded eyes, a long angular nose, rounded ears, and gently smiling lips create a face that feels both thoughtful and slightly mischievous.

Amber brown, cream, and near-black glaze mingle across the forehead and shoulders, accentuating the sculpted features. A taller neck and curved rear handle balance the rounded body, while pale glaze trails down the back. For collectors drawn to quieter expressions, this jug offers character through subtle modeling and a beautifully varied surface.
