Michael Banks is an artist from Alabama who knew from the time he was a child that he wanted to be an artist. A self-taught painter, Michael abandoned tradition on many levels and, in the process, succeeded in achieving a place in the wider world of contemporary American art.

This mixed media assemblage presents with bold color, distressed textures and reclaimed materials. The piece is 17.5" wide and about 12.5" long and 2.5" thick and is a good companion piece to "Heart Keeper". Here, the eye feels like watchfulness, the small heart hints at emotial transparency and the yellow strokes look like drifting thoughts.
