Michael Banks is an artist from Alabama who knew from the time he was a child that he wanted to be an artist. A self-taught painter, Michael abandoned tradition on many levels and, in the process, succeeded in achieving a place in the wider world of contemporary American art.

Bird in Hand is 19" tall and about 17" (beak to tail). It is about 1.5" thick at the thickest part. It is made from bits and pieces of found wood, painted with acrylics.
