Tim Whitten 8" Blue Character Face DP6146
Tim Whitten is a self taught potter (now living in AL) who began by making functional wares like bowls and birdhouses in 2010 before quickly making a shift to face jug pottery. Many of his pieces draw inspiration from traditional American folk pottery with an emphasis on face jug pottery.
This vivid cobalt blue face carries a striking emotional intensity through its elongated facial form and heavily sculpted features. Thick brows, sagging eyes, and asymmetrical teeth give the piece a weary yet animated expression, while the saturated blue glaze pools beautifully across the textured surface. The tall cylindrical form references traditional Southern pottery shapes, but Whitten transforms the vessel into an expressive contemporary character piece. Equal parts folk tradition and modern sculptural interpretation, this jug commands attention from every angle.
This piece is 8" tall, about 5.5" wide and 3.25" base.
