Michael Gates 5.75" Face Pitcher DP6397

This expressive face pitcher by Michael Gates combines functional pottery form with the bold visual language of contemporary folk art. The cream-glazed vessel features a large hand-drawn face rendered in black, with wide eyes, curling lines, dotted patterns, and a toothy grin. The decoration extends upward across the neck, while scattered black dots continue around the sides and back. A substantial handle and gently flared rim complete the traditional pitcher form. Gates’ energetic surface treatment gives the piece a lively, almost tattoo-like quality while retaining the character of Southern folk pottery.
