Marvin Bailey 21" Angel Figure Holding Devil Jug DP6543

This imaginative ceramic sculpture by South Carolina folk potter Marvin Bailey features an expressive angel figure holding a small devil jug in her hands. Her wide eyes, bright red lips, prominent teeth, and short, spiky black hair create the animated character typical of Bailey's figural work. The tall, slender figure wears a flowing dress finished in soft pink with dramatic deep red glaze running down from the bodice. Large red-and-white wings extend from her back, introducing an intriguing contrast between the angelic figure and the mischievous horned face she carries.

Blending humor, fantasy, and traditional Southern folk art imagery, Bailey creates a compelling sculptural composition that invites interpretation. The contrast between angel and devil gives this unusual piece a distinctive narrative quality and makes it an engaging addition to a collection of contemporary Southern folk pottery.

Measures 21" tall, about 8" wide, and has a 4.75" base.
