Feliciano Abaurre's work is the result of multiple esthetic and functional influences, from South America to Japan, Africa and the US , British and Indian pottery, always playing with the connection of clay and farm, utilitary ware for fermentation and storage.
The contrast between the raw, matte stoneware body and the pale, jagged stone inclusions gives the piece a primal, almost totemic presence. Abaurre’s surface treatment references geological formations and ritual objects, reinforcing themes of endurance, protection, and transformation. The tall bottle form grounds the work in the face jug tradition while pushing it firmly into sculptural territory.
This piece is 22" tall, and about 11" wide. It should be noted the stones do in fact break off with handling, so it definitely needs to be placed in a location that will not demand it be moved.
