Bottle of Monkeys is a hand-built ceramic sculpture that transforms a familiar phrase into a bold, three-dimensional object. The deep blue bottle form is topped and surrounded by sculpted monkeys climbing and clinging to the surface. Raised lettering on the front reads “BOTTLE OF MONKEYS,” reinforcing the playful yet pointed concept.

Kiln-fired and finished in glossy glaze, the piece combines bright color with detailed figurative elements. The monkeys add movement and texture, wrapping the vessel with energy and visual rhythm.

As with much of Hetherington’s work, the sculpture blends humor with commentary. By turning an idiom into a literal object, the piece explores chaos, group behavior, and collective frenzy in a direct and accessible way.
