Dwayne Craig 12" Devil Jug DP6059

This 12.5" devil face jug by North Georgia potter Dwayne Craig carries forward the expressive edge of the Southern face jug tradition with a distinctly contemporary hand. The stoneware form is animated by sharply modeled horns, coiled snake-like elements, and a vividly articulated face—its jagged teeth, arched brows, and piercing eyes heightened by layered red and blue glaze accents over a natural ash-toned body. Craig, grandson of legendary potter Burlon Craig, bridges generational craftsmanship with an increasingly sculptural, narrative-driven approach. The asymmetrical attachments and painterly surface give the piece a sense of movement and tension, making it as much a sculptural object as a functional vessel.

A strong collector example of modern North Georgia folk pottery, this work embodies both lineage and individuality. 12.5" tall and about 11" wide. 5.5" base.
