Michael Gates is a North Carolina potter and a descendant of a German family synonymous with time honored traditions: The Reinhardt Pottery. He is a sixth-generation potter carrying on techniques while adding his own inspired voice.

The jug’s face is full of attitude with its arched brows, wide eyes with raised lids, a long sculpted nose, and a tight grinrevealing a row of rounded clay teeth. A sturdy loop handle rises from the shoulder, balancing the jug’s compact silhouette, while subtle ear forms add to the animated profile.
