Jackie Apessos 8" Bunny w/Carrot Face Jug DP6338

After a couple of local classes to learn some basics, Jackie Apessos taught herself everything else from there.  Some work is thrown on the wheel and then hand sculpted, while other pieces are completely built by hand.  Almost everything has a face. Because of significant challenges with her vision, she works mostly with smaller pieces, as she needs to hold them in her hand under intense light, and work the clay using shadows as her guide.  Jackie derives so much joy when working with clay.  Oh, and she loves to collect and make creepy faces.

This whimsical rabbit face jug is full of personality and humor. Hand-sculpted with oversized ears, bulging eyes, prominent front teeth, and expressive whiskers, the piece captures the playful spirit that has made Apessos' pottery highly recognizable among collectors of contemporary folk art. The soft cream glaze is accented with warm speckling, giving the surface depth and a rustic character.

The removable stopper is a carrot with leafy green top, perfectly complementing the rabbit motif and adding a delightful storytelling element. Combining traditional face jug influences with imaginative sculpture, this one-of-a-kind pottery piece is both charming and collectible, making it a wonderful addition to collections of folk art, animal-themed pottery, and character jugs.
