Jackie Apessos 6" Thinker Face Jug Folk Art DP6041

After a couple of local classes to learn some basics, Jackie Apessos taught herself everything else from there.  Some work is thrown on the wheel and then hand sculpted, while other pieces are completely built by hand.  Almost everything has a face. Because of significant challenges with her vision, she works mostly with smaller pieces, as she needs to hold them in her hand under intense light, and work the clay using shadows as her guide.  Jackie derives so much joy when working with clay.  Oh, and she loves to collect and make creepy faces.

With heavy brows, pursed lips, and thoughtful eyes, this face jug carries a more contemplative mood than the others. The rich brown glaze with subtle iridescent highlights emphasizes the depth of the sculpted features. Apessos creates a quiet personality here—less mischievous, more introspective—showing the range of expression possible within the face-jug tradition. This one is 6" tall about 6" wide and has a 4" base.

Ships with tracking and insurance for $15. Pottery does not ship outside the continental USA.
