Ed Lane Wood Fired Turtle DP6391

This handcrafted turtle by North Carolina potter Ed Lane brings a sculptural folk-art form to the traditional surfaces associated with Catawba Valley pottery. The turtle features a rounded, segmented shell, extended head, individually formed feet, and small red eyes that add a subtle touch of character. A glossy earthy glaze in shades of olive, brown, and gray accentuates the incised lines defining the shell and creates natural variations across the surface.

Both whimsical and grounded in Southern pottery tradition, this sculptural turtle is a distinctive example of Lane's contemporary North Carolina folk pottery.
