Billy Joe & Marcia Craven Collaboration 15.5" Rainbow Rooster DP6478

This colorful rooster is a collaborative work by Billy Joe Craven and his daughter, Marcia Craven, ninth- and tenth-generation potters from the Gillsville, Georgia pottery tradition. Billy Joe created the sculptural form, building the rooster with an exaggerated comb, prominent beak and wattles, deeply textured feathers, applied wings, and a dramatically fanned tail.

Marcia created the custom glaze, layering soft turquoise blue, rose, lavender, and earthy tones across the heavily textured surface. The glaze settles into the carved feather details and shifts in color across the form, giving the rooster an aged, almost weathered character.

Bringing together Billy Joe's expressive folk pottery forms and Marcia's distinctive approach to glazing, this one-of-a-kind collaboration carries the Craven family's pottery tradition into its tenth generation while remaining playful, contemporary, and unmistakably Southern.

This piece is 15.5" tall, about 12" wide and has a 6" base.
