"I have built me a studio and wood kiln, have found good places to dig stoneware clay, and found good community. When I am not making pots, making glazes, and firing my wood kiln, I spend my time hiking in search of gemstones, clay, and foraged foods; firing groundhog kilns and making shop talk with other potters."

This piece has a very distinctive personality and fits well within Ben North's body of work. The sleepy, half-closed eyes, exaggerated ears, leafy layered mustache and beard, and perfect teeth give it a whimsical, mountain-folk character, while the surface and restrained glaze keep it grounded in traditional North Carolina pottery.

It is 11" tall, 9" wide and has a 4.5" base.
