For a couple of years, Charles utilized a stairwell in the building next door as his informal studio. there, he would work on his paintings as well as offer his work to the public. Sadly, the space is no longer available to him so we have brought his work into the gallery.
There was a time when Charles found himself spending a little time as a guest of the state. That's another story and it's his to tell. But as a result of that time, he created numerous pen and ink drawings. They were drawn on the reverse side of prison forms, like commissary requests, rules, etc. He spent a good deal of his time keeping busy in this way. The images are drawn from his imagination and remembrances of the area where he grew up. He mentioned that everywhere he went there were "Keep Out" signs and they are a reoccurring image within his work.
We took a number of the pieces and had them matted and shrink wrapped, ready to frame, so you can see how wonderful they truly are. Lots of details. We also had 8 of the pieces framed in a single large frame and they are awesome as a group. Pieces are matted to 12" x 9". The image is about 8" x 5.5 (basically a letter sized piece of paper, halved). These are original pieces.
