Stacy Lambert 7" Smell the Roses Jug DP6182 SOLD
Stacy hand builds his figures, sometimes throwing part of the work on the wheel. He does an electric kiln bisque firing before completing the detail painting and finishing with a final electric firing. All of Stacy’s work is carefully constructed and abundantly detailed. His clay figures share characteristics with his amazing pen and ink and colored pencil drawings. Both clay and paper attest to Stacy Lambert’s imagination and creativity.
A striking narrative face jug by Stacy Lambert, this sculptural ceramic piece merges storytelling, folk tradition, and contemporary whimsy. The vessel features Lambert’s signature expressive imagery—a wide-toothed face paired with an illustrated, wide-eyed figure reaching toward a blooming flower, rendered in a playful yet emotionally layered style. Candy cane–striped handles and dotted surface details add a sense of movement and charm, while the handwritten text wrapping the reverse transforms the piece into a visual poem.
The inscription reads: “She thought to stop and smell the roses, tempted to pluck it but was thwarted by thorns. Better to have smelled and lost than not have smelled at all.” Equal parts vessel and narrative sculpture, this one-of-a-kind work embodies Lambert’s gift for blending humor, vulnerability, and reflection into collectible ceramic form.
Measures 7.5" tall, 6" wide and has a 4.5" base.
