John Richards Green Dragon "Headlight" Wall Light FL6559

Burnsville, North Carolina folk artist John D. Richards brings his imaginative storytelling and playful humor to this wonderfully expressive green dragon wall lamp, part of his distinctive series of illuminated sculptures he calls "Headlights." Richards constructs each form using a handmade wire framework layered with tissue paper, creating a three-dimensional surface for his intricate drawings, handwritten sayings, and whimsical imagery.

This fantastical dragon features a bright green head, elongated snout, pointed horns, spiky ridges, oversized ears, and a dramatic open mouth filled with sharp teeth (individually carved frpm tree branches). Its surface is covered with black ink illustrations, curious characters, and humorous observations, including "Life Is Short, Eat Dessert First." The reverse reveals a contrasting yellow surface filled with additional drawings and philosophical musings.

Designed to hang on the wall and illuminate from within, this one-of-a-kind "Headlight" combines functional lighting with Richards' distinctive brand of contemporary folk art. Both playful and thought-provoking, it is as much a conversation piece as a source of light.
