Michael Banks is an artist from Alabama who knew from the time he was a child that he wanted to be an artist. A self-taught painter, Michael abandoned tradition on many levels and, in the process, succeeded in achieving a place in the wider world of contemporary American art.

This original painting is painted on 8.5x11 glossy paper - the kind you would print a photo on. It is not matted and it is not wrapped in cellophane (so the paint would not adhere to it). It was difficult to photograph because of the shiny surface but I feel confident in the way the colors of the face turned out.
