Suzanne Shute

I studied fashion design and fine art in Montreal. After moving to Vermont in the ‘70s I worked as an industrial designer, winning many awards, including the prestigious “Appliance Magazine’s Excellence in Design Award” an unprecedented three times.

In recent years I returned to my artistic roots. Combining my skills from the fashion and industrial design worlds I take static, one dimensional metal and form it into a three dimensional celebration of movement and beauty. The knowledge and skills taken from industrial design and prototyping have given me a unique approach to the jewelry trade. From my secret “micro-hammering“ technique to the heavy handed dent and cut methods I use, the fun has always been “What can I do with all this? And, how can I do it in a manner that will set my work apart?” The use of non-precious metals keeps a high quality object at a fair and reasonable price and spreads the joy.
